Fundamentals of Permaculture DesignAugust, 2004 (exact date to be confirmed) Certificate Course: Part 1 of Designer Certificate. This course provides a basic grounding in permaculture as a whole systems approach to ecological living so that you are empowered to apply these skills on your own property, in your life and within your community. There will be a balance between classroom time, tours and hands-on experiential learning. This training is useful for people with varying levels of experience - from backyard gardeners to design professionals. This practical training in permaculture design principals can teach you how to become more self-sufficient. Note: This course is limited to 25 people. What is Permaculture? Permaculture is an ethical design system for creating sustainable human culture. Permaculture is the conscious design of cultivated ecosystems that have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural environments. Permaculture systems neither exploit nor pollute, instead they provide for the harmonious integration of individuals into the landscape in such a way that the land grows in richness, productivity and aesthetic beauty. Instructors: Gregoire Lamoureux of Kootenay Permaculture Institute in BC, plus various guest lecturers Location: TBA (Ottawa area). Times: TBA Cost: $900 (fee to be confirmed by March 6/04). Deposit $100. Food: Organic meals consisting of breakfasts, lunches, snacks and beverages are included; dinners are provided for an extra $5 member / $8 non-member per meal. Stay On Site: Participants can stay on site at no extra charge (bring your tent and bedding). Rides Available: For people who need a ride or for those who would like to car pool we can help make arrangements to get you to the site. |
