Engaging with our consumers, retailers and manufacturing partners is a critical piece of our mission to be a transparent, trusted company and is central to our belief in the power of partnership. But we go beyond that to participate actively on the larger stage through our activism within our industry and by our support for needed legislation to address climate change and toxics in consumer products.
WAGES
supporting cooperative green cleaning businesses
In 2010 we deepened our rewarding partnership with the Womens’ Action to Gain Economic Security (WAGES), a non-profit San Francisco-based organization that helps women start and run their own cooperatively-owned, green residential cleaning businesses. The coops serve clients in the Bay area with eco-friendly home cleaning services that help to protect the health of their clients' homes and families. The coops also protect the health of the women who use cleaning products for many hours a day. Consistent with our commitment to help create a world of enlightened equity and justice, we are pleased to support the growth of coops that provide their members, largely Latina women, with a sustainable living and benefits such as healthcare and paid vacations that are extraordinarily unusual in their industry.
We continue to provide marketing, PR expertise, online and social media advice, and cash contributions to support this unique social venture. We believe it is a model of how a for-profit and a non-profit can come together to create more good in the world. Learn more here.
