Capitalizing on New Opportunities at Seventh Generation Community Projects

As a result of changing circumstances and in an effort to continue the positive work that has been achieved, the Board of Directors of Seventh Generation Community Projects has concluded that it is necessary to restructure its management and operations. These changes will increase community involvement and guidance as well as help build financial self-sufficiency. The results will ensure a continued and sound foundation to allow Seventh Generation to meet future opportunities.

As a result, Program events for 2005 will be held off until September to allow full attention to be focused on the priority of reorienting the organization.

The one significant exception to this pause is The National Capital Region GREEN PAGES 2005. This directory is currently being finalized for publication in both electronic and hard copy formats the beginning of May. Seventh Generation gratefully acknowledges a grant from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation to help cover associated printing costs.

Seventh Generation Community Projects remains fully committed to its fundamental vision of the future National Capital Region as a model of sustainable living supported by the objectives of the organization¹s mission:

Seventh Generation will be moving to an essentially volunteer-supported operation. While the mailing address, telephone, fax, e-mail and web site services will continue to be available, the existing office has been closed. The new organizational structure will be based on a decentralized virtual office model.

Efforts are currently underway which will empower Seventh Generation members through possibilities to volunteer in a number of areas including, among others, administrative support, financial management, volunteer coordination, membership services, program development/management, event supervision, fundraising, community outreach, legal advice and newsletter production.

Detailed information on what these volunteer opportunities involve will be posted on this website in the near future and expressions of interest will be most welcome.

In addition, possibilities for combined action will be offered to other community stakeholders through partnering, joint projects and financial support (grants & corporate sponsorships).

The support provided by members, community partners and the interested public since our beginning in 1999 is deeply appreciated. Please feel free to submit comments or suggestions via e-mail to info@seventhgeneration.ca or leave a telephone message at (613) 233-9880.

Thank you again for your past and future contributions,

The Board of Directors of Seventh Generation Community Projects:
